• Submissions Are Open

It’s the 10th Galway Cartoon Festival!

And getting this far has been a wild and crazy ride.

So this year, we’re going to relax a bit. No categories, no separate shows with themes, just one great big one for cartoons of all kind. Topical, satirical, surreal, sociopathic. We don’t care, just send us what you’ve got.

    Details:

    • Submissions are welcome from anyone, anywhere.
    • We are particularly keen to represent work by women artists.
    • With all submissions, please include a little biographical information.
    • You can send as many as you like.
    • Work can be in any language, but we have a special place for cartoons in Irish.
    • Any images used in festival publicity will be credited to the artist.

    Originals:

We used to sell a fair bit of work on behalf of artists, but during Covid we had to stop and it’s never fully recovered since. So please feel welcome to send us original drawings or hand-signed prints. We’d love to make you some money.

All original works will be returned at the Festival’s expense. So don’t worry about including postage! Just remember to:

    • Include a return address
    • State the price you wish to sell the work for.
    • (We can also exhibit works without offering them for sale, if you wish.)

Originals and hand-signed prints should be sent to:

    Digital Submissions:

    • We will print and exhibit selected digital submissions.
    • Any sales of these will go towards the festival’s costs.

Digital submissions should be sent, as 300 dpi jpegs please, to:

    Oh, and the deadline:

    But start now!

About Us

The Galway Cartoon Festival is an international celebration of funny drawings, hosted in Ireland’s most sociable city.

Galway is obsessed with arts and culture, with festivals dedicated to everything from literature to furniture. But noticeable by its absence was the ‘Ninth Art’ – comics, caricature, and cartoons.

In 2017, two local cartoonists decided to change that…
